Noxious Weed Inventory, Mapping and Monitoring
CNHP has been involved in weed mapping and monitoring efforts across the state for more than a decade. Our survey methods combine permanent plots with mapping and are excellent for long-term monitoring and data collection. These data are an essential part of successful weed management. Through our work we emphasize the importance of Early Detection Rapid Response, that is, eradicating and containing weeds in an early stage of infestation. Established populations, and infestations in sensitive natural areas where impacts to native species must be considered, pose many challenges and eradication is not always possible. These areas can benefit from site plans. This site assessment form can be used as a guideline to develop site specifc plans and should be adapted to specific weed species and environmental settings.
