The value of citizen science for implementing State Wildlife Action Plans: Rob Schorr presents Climbers for Bat Conservation project at the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agency meeting: Tampa, Florida

September 25, 2018

Jennifer Newmark, Nevada Diversity Division Administrator and former Director of Nevada Natural Heritage Program, with fellow lead members of the Diversity Working Group of the Association of the Fish and Wildlife Agency, coordinated the AFWA workshop entitled Making the Connection between State Wildlife Action Plans and the Wildlife Recreation Community in Tampa, Florida, recently. The need for new data, power in utilizing citizen science projects, and interest in connecting citizens to the wildlife in their region, has motivated the development of many effective citizen science projects. CNHP’s zoologist, Rob Schorr, was able to attend the workshop and present the development and management of the citizen project called Climbers for Bat Conservation. Other presentations included summaries of the variety of citizen science non-game projects in Idaho, Missouri, Florida, and North Carolina.
