Rob Schorr with the winner of the Robert L. Packard Outstanding Educator 2018, and his former advisor, Dr. Brian Chapman.
During the 65th Annual Meeting of the Southwestern Association of Naturalists Meeting at Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas, Rob Schorr was able to present some research on Preble’s meadow jumping mice. Rob’s research with Dr. Brian Mihlbachler of the U.S. Air Force Academy demonstrated that survival of Preble’s meadow jumping mouse increases with shrub and grass cover along Monument Creek at the Academy. These results are only relevant to the variability of habitat conditions found at the Academy, but illustrate the importance of shrub cover and grass cover to persistence of Preble’s meadow jumping mouse populations.
