{"id":3524,"date":"2012-09-20T16:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-09-20T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cnhp.colostate.edu\/ecosystems-in-the-high-park-fire-area\/"},"modified":"2021-06-09T14:23:12","modified_gmt":"2021-06-09T14:23:12","slug":"ecosystems-in-the-high-park-fire-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cnhp.colostate.edu\/cnhpblog\/2012\/09\/20\/ecosystems-in-the-high-park-fire-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Ecosystems in the High Park fire area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The most common ecosystems in the High Park and Hewlett fire area are <a href=\"http:\/\/cnhpblog.blogspot.com\/2010\/12\/ecological-systems-foothills-shrubland.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lower montane-foothill shrubland<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/cnhpblog.blogspot.com\/2012\/04\/ecological-systems-ponderosa-pine.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ponderosa pine woodland<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/cnhpblog.blogspot.com\/2011\/10\/ecological-systems-mixed-conifer-forest.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mixed conifer forest<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/cnhpblog.blogspot.com\/2012\/01\/ecological-systems-lodgepole-pine.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lodgepole pine forest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many square miles of these shrubland, woodland, and forest&nbsp;ecosystems were burned during the May and June fires. In August, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lighthawk.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LightHawk<\/a> volunteer pilot Dan Evans flew CNHP\u2019s Michael Menefee, Jill Handwerk, and Dave Anderson over the area.
