Anderson<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">A visit to<br \/>\nWashington DC is always interesting and inspiring, and my trip this month was<br \/>\nno exception!&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">There were several reasons<br \/>\nto go this time.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">I gave two<br \/>\npresentations on CNHP\u2019s projects at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trb.org\/Main\/Home.aspx\">Transportation Research Board<\/a>\u2019s (TRB) annual<br \/>\nMeeting.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">One was on our wildlife escape<br \/>\nramp study, led by Jeremy Siemers, and funded by CDOT.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">CSU is<br \/>\na sponsoring institution of this conference and our Dean, Joyce Berry, and our<br \/>\nProvost Rick Miranda were there.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">With Leslie<br \/>\nHoney, Vice President of Conservation Services for NatureServe, I met with Dan<br \/>\nFenn, a staffer in Senator Mark Udall\u2019s Office.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">&nbsp;<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">We showed him the State of Colorado\u2019s Biodiversity 2011 and gave him a<br \/>\ncopy of CNHP\u2019s High Park Fire poster, and it was a wonderful<br \/>\nopportunity to highlight some of the ways that we can help identify no-regrets<br \/>\nconservation solutions.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Leslie and I<br \/>\nmade a great team and I hope we can visit our congressional representatives<br \/>\nagain before long!<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">It was fun to visit<br \/>\nour friends at NatureServe- thank you to everyone (Pat, Leslie, Lori, Don,<br \/>\nRob, Kat, and Bruce) for your hospitality.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<span>Two of our<br \/>\nfriends from Oregon, Jimmy Kagan (Director of the Oregon Biodiversity<br \/>\nInformation Center (ORBIC), CNHP\u2019s analog in that state) and Lisa Gaines<br \/>\n(Director of the Oregon Institute for Natural Resources), spent the week there<br \/>\nas well and we did a pretty good job of trying some of Washington\u2019s fabulous<br \/>\nculinary offerings together while figuring out how to conserve the world&#8217;s biodiversity.&nbsp; Jimmy and I visited the wonderful United<br \/>\nStates Botanic Garden between meetings on the last day of my stay.&nbsp; One of my favorite things there, aside from<br \/>\nthe beautiful orchid collection, was getting to see the Wollemi pine.&nbsp;
