Species Profile
This species has the potential to be impacted by development at the urban/rural interface due to habitat loss, degredation or alteration. MYCI can often be found in foothill areas, where urban development is common. Research has shown urban development to be deterimental to bats (Geggie and Fenton 1985, Kurta and Teramino 1992) and may result in declines in overall bat abundance and diversity (Pierson 1998). However, unless urbanization is large scale, it is unlikely to impact the statewide population to a high degree.
