As with M. lucifugus, this species' ability to utilize many roosting structures should minimize any large scale impacts to its population. However, several similar species including M. septentrionalishave been shown to be vulnerable to White-nose sysndrome (Castle and Cryan 2010). Thus, to maintain efforts of reducing the spread of WNS through caves in CO known to be used by this species entry by humans into such structures should be closely regulated and highly justified.
