While EPFU rely on riparian areas for foraging and drinking, they adapt very well to urban areas and readily utilize the stable, warm buildings as maternity colonies.  There numbers might eventually increase in areas where urbanization is occurring, as is likely the case along the front range (Neubaum et al. 2007b).  Studies have show that bats exploiting buildings may benefit from urban exapnsion in areas with adjacent foraging habitats (Soper and Fenton) and the use of buildings has allowed them to expand their range in some areas.
