Species Profile
As with M. lucifugus, this species' ability to utilize many roosting structures should minimize any large scale impacts to its population. However, this species has been documented swarming at a cave in CO in significant numbers (Navo et al. 2002). M. lucifugus's tendancy to roost in large maternity colonies may exacerbate impacts from internal disturbances to roosts when they occur, particularly when considering impacts from WNS. To maintain efforts of reducing the spread of WNS through caves in CO known to be used by this species entry by humans into such structures should be closely regulated and highly justified.
