Species Profile
This species has the potential to be impacted by development at the urban/rural interface due to habitat loss, degredation or alteration. This species uses caves and mines for roosting so as urbanization spreads, it is may be impacted by closure of caves/mines for public safety or increased human activity at these sites. Research has shown urban development to be deterimental to bats (Geggie and Fenton 1985, Kurta and Teramino 1992) and may result in declines in overall bat abundance and diversity (Pierson 1998).
