Species Profile
Loss of riparian areas used by this species (e.g. due to reservoir inundation or quarry activity) typically associated with cave and rock crevice habitats is currently not occurring at levels high enough to cause significant habitat loss for Lasiurus borealis. In many areas such as the eastern plains, this habitat is actually increasing due to augmentation in river flow and introduction of new water sources such as canals (Neubaum 2005).
