Species Profile
This species rarely uses human-made structures in Colorado and bats doing so are often small numbers of bachelor males or bats using a temporary night roost (Siders et al. 2004 NASBR abstract). COTO most often inhabits semidesert shrublands, pinon-juniper woodlands and open montane forests (Fitzgerald et al. 1994) away from urban areas. COTO has been dosumented using bridges in Colorado.
